4 days, 6 people, all kinds of adventure!
Kapaa made me feel like I lived out in the countryside so I wanted my pictures to reflect what I saw and felt. Next time I’m bringing my film camera for sure! We stayed in Kapaa which is a small town just 20 minutes outside of Lihue airport. Most of our time was spent there including the Safeway, Foodland, and the little food boutiques that we ate at. It’s a cute little town that makes me want to dress like up like a hippie and take pictures on every corner. It’s that adorable. Like I said, it feels like the countryside. So lets begin with day 1!
Actually, first day was hell, so lets skip that. First night was a step in the right direction. Tacos, beer, and games = a damn good time!
Now onto Day 2!
Day 2 started off with some breakfast at EggBerts (not the best but cheap). Shortly after, 5 of us went to hike Sleeping Giant. We thought we had reached the top a couple of times, but decided to keep going. It’s a fantastic thing that we did because the REAL tip top was amazing!
After the hike we took a loooooooonnnnggggg drive to Waimea Canyon which is considered the grand canyon of Hawaii, and rightfully so. We hung out for the sunset before heading back for some dinner.
After dinner is a little bit of a blur……I just know I had a great night with good company 🙂
It was the first day with some good ole sunshine so we hit the beach behind our hotel as well as the pool. We ate breakfast at Java Kai and were off to Hanalei Bay. After another loooooonnnnnggggg drive up north we reached the Bay. We came all this way…which means we HAD to jump off the pier. The problem was that there was no sunshine, it was windy, and the water looked oh so inviting.. Phoebe and Allison got Kehau to go, so I couldn’t say no.
We then had the privilege of going knee boarding thanks to Duane (who is the nicest local boy I’ve ever met) and his boat. No pictures for this one…..We were right under the bridge just having a little BBQ and relaxing. He took us out 2 at a time…..Phoebe and I are the champs! Duane then took us for a little boat ride down the river which turned into a stop at the Fern Grotto. Gorgeous area with a tiny waterfall surrounded by a cliff overhang. I spent the entire day in my bikini which was so awesome. Need more days like that!
There were only 3 of us left on the last day, but we decided to make the most of it with some bike path action, “ridesand,” and playing in some freshwater (which I bowed out of-too damn cold). Some of my favorite photos came from the last day. here they are!
Thanks for a great adventure girls! Part 2 in the summer??
